The Dr's family has had a beach house for the past 35 years.
Last year the old house was demolished and a new house built in it's place.
As the old house was rich in memories and original fittings,
we wanted to find some ways to carry some of those over into the new place.
We kept retro light fittings which now hang over the new kitchen bench,
old mirrors for the wall and I saved all of the old curtain fabrics
and worn out woolen blankets.
During our summer holiday at the beach house this year I took my
sewing machine and made covers for the window seat squabs
out of some of the original retro curtains from the old place.
I also made woolen blanket cushions with some of the blankets I saved.
I'm pleased with the result.
They are really lovely :). Especially love how you've been able to incorporate the good memory-filled old items into the new. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!!! I love the cushions! And it all goes so well together in beautiful beachy colours!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea, and they look so good too.
ReplyDeleteGreat to keep some of the memories alive in the new place. I would love a bench seat some day!
ReplyDeleteOh my, what I would do for a gorgeous window seat to sit in and read all day!
ReplyDeleteLove those cushions!
ReplyDeleteohh I LOVE the way you upcycled those old things! The cushions are gorgeous!! I will be making a window seat for my daughters room at some stage soonish, maybe I will use her curtains to cover them instead of just getting rid of them, I would never have thought of it!
ReplyDeleteI love love your idea behind this project. It looks brilliant!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the way you've made the cushion covers out of blankets :-)
